Facial Reflexology Ritual for Radiant, (Peri)Menopausal Skin
Can I be completely real with you for a second? As a woman navigating my 40s and beyond, whether we are in the thick of perimenopause or beginning to notice the subtle early shifts, our skin starts speaking a totally new language. You might wake up one morning and realize your favorite moisturizer isn't quenching your skin like it used to, or that your face is holding onto a bit extra morning puffiness, tension, or dullness.
Living here in Colorado, our mountain climate already challenges our skin daily. Add in the natural shifts of perimenopause and menopause, and things can feel even trickier. When estrogen levels naturally begin to dip, our skin’s collagen production slows down, micro-circulation drops, and our skin barrier doesn't retain moisture the way it did in our earlier years. It is a completely normal, natural shift, but it can feel disorienting when you're looking for real lift, glow, and vitality without resorting to invasive med spa procedures, needles, or harsh treatments.
The wonderful news is that your hands, paired with a botanical facial oil and a few intentional pressure points, hold incredible power to restore vitality and lift right from home.
Facial reflexology is an ancient practice that maps the nerve pathways and organ systems across your face. By applying gentle, rhythmic pressure to specific reflex points, we aren't just working on the surface. We encourage stagnant lymph fluid to drain, boost oxygen-rich blood flow to your cheeks, and send a clear signal to your nervous system to drop into deep rest and repair. When your stress hormones lower, your skin cools down, inflammation eases, and that natural, lit-from-within bounce comes right back.
Setting Up Your At-Home Ritual
Before you begin, start with clean hands and a freshly cleansed face. Because our skin craves extra lipid support in our 40s and 50s, you never want to do point work or massage on dry skin.
Gently press 4 to 6 drops of a facial oil into your face, neck, and décolletage. Look for cold-pressed botanical oils rich in essential fatty acids like rosehip, pomegranate seed, or jojoba oil. These give your skin a smooth, silky slip while deeply nourishing your lipid barrier. Some of my favorite facial oils come from brands like Mr. Lulu Skincare and Odacité!
For the reflexology points, you can use reflexology tools, the rounded tip of a crystal tool, a polished kansa wand, or simply the pads of your own fingers. Use soft, melting pressure. It should feel deeply relaxing, never sharp or uncomfortable.
The 4-Step Glow Reflexology Routine
The "Calm Your Mind" Point
Located directly between your inner eyebrows, right above the bridge of your nose. In reflexology, this point connects directly to the pituitary gland. It is brilliant for settling a racing mind, lowering cortisol, and soothing that hot, flustered feeling when hormones fluctuate. Press gently with your tool or finger and make slow, tiny clockwise circles for 10 to 15 seconds. Take a deep, slow breath in, and let it all out as you release.

The Hormone Balance Point
Located in the center indentation right between the base of your nose and the top of your upper lip. This area corresponds to the endocrine and adrenal systems. It is a wonderful point for giving tired, sluggish skin a gentle pick-me-up when you’re feeling depleted. Hold steady, soft pressure here for 10 seconds, release, and repeat three times.

The Cheekbone Lift and De-Puff Point
Located directly under your pupils, in the soft dip right beneath your cheekbones. As micro-circulation slows down, fluid loves to pool around our eyes and mid-face. Working this point wakes up lymphatic drainage, helping clear morning eye bags and bringing fresh, oxygenated blood flow back into the apples of your cheeks. Press gently into the point, hold for a breath, and then slowly slide your tool outward along the underside of your cheekbone toward your temple. Repeat 5 times on each side.

The Jawline Tension Release
Located in the soft notch right in front of your earlobe, where your jaw opens and closes. We hold an immense amount of unexpressed stress and tension in our jaw muscles, which can restrict healthy flow to the lower face and make the jawline feel heavy. Open your mouth slightly to find the dip, make gentle circles for 15 seconds, and then sweep your hands smoothly down the sides of your neck toward your collarbones to drain that fluid away.
